T Level Health (Supporting the Adult Nursing Team)
The healthcare sector is the largest employer in England with approximately 1.5 million people employed across various services including ambulance, community, mental health, hospital services, commissioning roles, and central bodies such as NHS England. The industry currently has an 8% vacancy rate, most notably in the regulated professions roles, including nursing and allied health professions such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, making it a priority area for workforce growth In England. This T Level offers core knowledge that underpins the sector, and you will also develop occupationally specific skills that will allow you to enter skilled employment within a specific occupation.
Assessment
The Core Component provides a broad understanding of the healthcare industry and covers the following nine topics:
- The healthcare sector
- Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health sector
- Managing personal information and data within the health sector
- Good scientific and clinical practice
- Providing person- centred care
- Health and wellbeing
- Safeguarding
- Core science concepts
- Further science concepts in health
The Core Component will be assessed by two exams and an Employer Set Project.
Your occupational specialism will allow you to develop the relevant skills in preparation for your career in the healthcare sector. The occupational specialism is assessed by synoptic assessments comprising task-based assignments, as outlined below:
- assignment 1 – (case study assessment (CSA))
- assignment 2 – (practical activity assessment (PAA) core)
- assignment 2 – (practical activity assessment (PAA) option)
- assignment 3 – (professional discussion assessment (PDA))
What could this Technical Qualification lead to?
Achieving this Technical Qualification will provide several progression options. These include:
- Skilled employment:
- Community support worker, Maternity support worker, Mental health support worker, Support Worker,
- Senior healthcare support worker, Rehabilitation Worker
A Level 3 Apprenticeship in:
- Ambulance Support Worker
- Lead Adult Care Worker
They are qualifications at levels 4 and 5 and prepare you for occupations at these levels.
