A school day at University Academy Holbeach Sixth Form is designed to promote academic focus, independence, personal development, and responsibility, preparing students for university, apprenticeships, and employment.
Academic Lessons and Independent Study
Students follow a personalised timetable that includes timetabled lessons and independent study sessions. Lessons are delivered by subject specialists and place strong emphasis on discussion, application of knowledge, and independent thinking.
When a study session appears on a student’s timetable, they are expected to work productively in the Sixth Form Study Centre. These sessions are treated as protected learning time and support the development of effective independent study habits.
Enrichment and Personal Development
Thursday Period 3 is a dedicated Enrichment session, aligned with the Personal Development programme delivered across the main school. During this time, students engage in activities that support wellbeing, leadership, citizenship, and wider personal development.
Tutor Time and Pastoral Support
Students attend tutor time twice each week, providing regular opportunities for attendance checks, academic guidance, wellbeing support, and progression information.
Use of Sixth Form Areas and Mobile Phones
Sixth Form students are permitted to use mobile phones in designated Sixth Form areas, reflecting the increased independence and trust associated with post-16 study.
During timetabled lessons, mobile phones may only be used with the explicit permission of the teacher, where their use supports learning.
High Expectations and Support
Throughout the day, high expectations are maintained for attendance, behaviour, punctuality, and engagement. Students are supported by subject teachers and the Sixth Form Team, who provide guidance, challenge, and intervention where needed.
