Level 1 Hairdressing
The VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing provides you with the foundations and knowledge along with the practical skills to become a Hairdressing Assistant. The course covers essential topics such as Preparing for Hair Services, Maintaining Clean and Organised Work Areas, and Supporting Effective Workplace Relationships. You will also gain hands-on experience in blow-drying, shampooing, and conditioning hair. This qualification provides a solid introduction to the hair industry and prepares students for further training or Entry Level roles in salons.
The course will require you to complete practical assessments along side assignments and online exams.
Entry Requirements
Grades 1- 3 are required for the level 1 hairdressing course. Maths and English can be re-sat whilst on the hairdressing course
Level 2 Hairdressing
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing is designed for students who are developing the foundations and skills needed to pursue employment as a Junior Stylist. This qualification provides hands-on training in essential hairdressing techniques, including shampooing, conditioning, cutting, colouring, and styling. Students will also gain knowledge of client consultation, health and safety practices, and salon etiquette, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the industry.
The course combines practical experience with theoretical learning, allowing students to build confidence and competence in delivering high-quality hairdressing services. It also focuses on developing professional communication and customer service skills, which are vital for success in a salon environment.
Upon successful completion, students will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 Hairdressing qualification for advanced training or enter the industry as a Junior Stylist in a salon, or as a Freelance Hairdresser. The course will require you to complete practical assessments alongside assignments and online exams.
Entry Requirements
Grades 3-9 are required for level 2 hairdressing course.
