Success Stories

The school is a great place for me as this is an extremely positive environment especially for me as a motor vehicle student. All of the teachers are really kind and make me happy to come into school and learn. I used to be in this school for my GCSE years and transitioning into 6th form was a very natural progression. I never felt lonely in this school as it always gave me something to do, such as spending any free time in the common room with my friends and playing pool, or studying in the study centre.  This school also encourages its students to make friends through events such as the first day of school where we were doing team building exercises and had the great opportunity to make friends. I heavily recommend this school and its 6th form to anybody who is thinking of applying here.

I moved to UAH for sixth form and honestly settled in so quickly due to everyone in my course being so welcoming. The staff themselves are lovely people to be around; they make you feel comfortable and supported in class. With T-Level Management and Administration as a whole, it has been great so far- it’s fun and creative, and I love the group activities where we work together as a team. Overall, it’s been such a positive experience and I’m glad I made the choice in coming here.

Throughout my time at UAH, I have always wanted to challenge myself. I was very glad to hear that I had been accepted into A levels, as it aided in furthering my need to strive and improve. Reasons why I chose to study at UAH are simple. The environment and familiarity of the school. Together, these factors encouraged me to select UAH as my preferred establishment. My preferences stemmed from the fact that here, I am not left in a place of mental ambiguity but rather, given clarity and certainty for what the future bares for me. UAH has helped in shaping my career decisions and vital skills necessary to cope with real world demands.

Joshua Ward is a former student of University Academy Holbeach who has gone on to build an exceptional career in the British Army. One of the proudest moments of his service was being entrusted with responsibility for the two vehicles that formed part of the coffin party at the funeral of HRH Prince Philip, a role that reflected the high levels of professionalism, discipline and trust placed in him.

Since leaving school, Joshua has travelled extensively with the Army, taking part in exercises and deployments across the UK and overseas, including Kenya, Cyprus, Germany, Arnhem, France, and an operational tour in the Sinai Peninsula. Alongside his operational commitments, he has represented his Regiments in both football and rugby and has recently achieved selection for the British Army Clay Shooting Team after several years competing at Corps level.

Joshua has gained a wide range of professional qualifications in leadership, management and engineering. He has also played a key role in training and mentoring future soldiers within his Corps, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), helping to develop the next generation of military engineers.

Now aged 28, Joshua reflects positively on the foundations laid during his time at University Academy Holbeach. With a successful career already behind him and many opportunities still ahead, he credits the support and encouragement he received at school as an important part of his journey and achievements.

Carl Ramage is a former student of University Academy Holbeach who went on to study A Levels in Mathematics, Geography and Physics. He chose to continue his education at UAH Sixth Form because of the continuity it offered, already knowing the staff, understanding expectations, and feeling confident within a familiar environment. This consistency helped reduce the anxiety often associated with moving to a new post-16 provider.

During his time in Sixth Form, Carl valued the small class sizes and supportive atmosphere, which made it easy to ask questions and receive guidance when needed. The more relaxed and less formal feel of UAH Sixth Form, compared to other local providers, helped him to thrive academically. The timetable structure allowed for effective independent study, often leading to productive informal study sessions with peers during the school day. Carl also benefited from strong support with university applications, including opportunities to attend open days and events, as well as continued support for completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award. Practical considerations such as the Sixth Form’s proximity to home also allowed him to maintain part-time work alongside his studies.

After graduating from the University of East Anglia in 2018, Carl began his career as a Project Engineer at a sheet metal fabrication company in Lowestoft. In this role, he supported the management of topside fabrication projects, primarily within the oil and gas sector. In January 2020, Carl made the decision to change direction and joined a company based in Hethel, Norfolk, specialising in the design and manufacture of Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulators for the automotive industry. These simulators are used for a wide range of applications, including testing advanced driver assistance systems such as lane assist and automated braking, as well as vehicle setup and driver acclimatisation in motorsport, ranging from Formula 1 to the World Rally Championship.

Nathan Congreve is a former student of University Academy Holbeach, where he studied A Levels in Mathematics, Geography and Business. He chose these subjects because they strongly interested him and complemented both his academic strengths and future career aspirations.

Nathan chose to study at UAH Sixth Form because of the flexibility it offered. The ability to select subjects he enjoyed and to take greater ownership of how he planned and structured his learning helped him to succeed academically. He also valued the social aspect of Sixth Form life, enjoying the opportunity to meet new people and develop wider interpersonal skills alongside his studies.

Since leaving UAH, Nathan has progressed into a leadership role within industry. He is currently a manager at an electrical engineering company, working within the industrial and manufacturing sector. His role involves overseeing operations and supporting engineering solutions for a range of commercial and industrial clients, demonstrating the practical and professional progression made possible through his Sixth Form experience.

Katie Wright is a former student of University Academy Holbeach, where she studied Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy. She chose this pathway to develop specialist practical skills within a professional and supportive learning environment.

Katie chose to study at UAH Sixth Form because it offered the Beauty Therapy course she wanted in a convenient local setting. Small class sizes meant teaching was highly personalised, allowing her to receive individual support and clarification whenever needed. This supportive approach helped build her confidence and ensure she could progress at her own pace. The structured timetable also played an important role; although Beauty Therapy required attendance on three days per week, these were full working days with no free periods. This structure enabled Katie to successfully balance her studies alongside a part-time job.

Since completing her qualifications, Katie has been fully qualified in Beauty Therapy for two years. She is now self-employed, working within a salon in Moulton alongside a supportive and professional team. Katie reflects very positively on her time at UAH Sixth Form and credits the course structure, teaching support and flexibility with helping her progress into employment within the beauty industry.

Amy Tawn is a former student of University Academy Holbeach, where she studied A Levels in Business, Biology and Geography. She chose to remain at UAH Sixth Form following a positive and supportive learning experience throughout Years 8 to 11, and because alternative providers did not offer the same environment or subject combinations she was seeking.

Amy valued the small class sizes at UAH Sixth Form, which allowed for regular opportunities to ask questions, seek guidance and receive personalised support from staff. This close working relationship with teachers helped her to build confidence and develop the academic and personal skills needed for progression beyond Sixth Form. She credits her time at UAH with preparing her well for the demands of higher education and reflects fondly on her two years in Sixth Form.

Since leaving UAH, Amy has progressed into a career in education and is now a primary school teacher at a school in Peterborough. Her journey highlights the strong foundations and transferable skills developed during her time at UAH Sixth Form.

Chloe Plaice is a former student of University Academy Holbeach, where she studied A Levels in English Literature and Law, alongside a BTEC 90-Credit qualification in Music Performance. During her time in Sixth Form, Chloe developed strong academic and creative skills, formed lasting friendships, and, with the support of staff, successfully progressed to university.

Chloe chose to remain at UAH Sixth Form because she had enjoyed her time at the school and felt confident in the learning environment. Although many of her peers chose alternative providers, Chloe explored her options and ultimately decided that staying at UAH was the right choice for her. The school’s proximity to home, alongside the range of A Level and BTEC courses available, reinforced her decision.

After leaving UAH, Chloe studied for a BA (Hons) in Music at the University of Lincoln, before completing a PGCE in Secondary Music. She is now a music teacher at a school in Peterborough. Chloe remains enthusiastic about her future in education and is keen to continue developing her career within the education sector.
