At UAH Sixth Form, students have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, a nationally recognised programme that helps develop confidence, resilience, leadership and independence. Through a combination of volunteering, physical activity, skills development and the expedition experience, students gain valuable life skills while challenging themselves in new environments. DofE is a fantastic way for our learners to build their CVs, strengthen university and apprenticeship applications, and grow personally through teamwork, problem-solving and community involvement. At UAH we offer access to all levels of the programme, bronze, silver and gold.

Seville internship programme

Third Sector International (3SI) offers a unique internship programme designed to give young people the chance to build practical workplace skills, develop independence, and experience life in another country. Through tailored placements, cultural immersion, and supported living abroad, the programme helps students grow both personally and professionally while gaining valuable insight into global working environments.

In June 2025, five UAH students completed the two-week internship in Seville, Spain. During their time abroad, the students took part in a range of placements—including childcare roles in local nurseries and marketing and advertising positions within businesses—allowing them to gain hands-on experience across different sectors. Living together helped them build communication, teamwork, and life skills, while daily Spanish lessons and real-world practice strengthened their language abilities. They also had the opportunity to explore Seville’s rich culture, historic landmarks, and vibrant atmosphere, making the experience both educational and memorable. Overall, the programme proved transformative, giving the students increased confidence, broader perspectives, and valuable professional skills.

Five Students Complete Enriching Internship Experience in Seville with 3SI

Five students recently returned from an exciting two-week internship programme in Seville, Spain, organised by Third Sector International (3SI). The programme provided a unique opportunity for the students to gain valuable work experience, develop essential life skills, and immerse themselves in Spanish culture.

The students were placed in a variety of sectors, ranging from child care in local nurseries to marketing and advertising roles within businesses. These placements offered hands-on experience, helping each participant build practical skills and gain insights into different professional environments.

Living together over the two-week period, the group also developed personal and social skills, learning how to collaborate, communicate, and navigate daily life in a new country. In addition to their placements, they participated in Spanish language lessons and had daily opportunities to practice their skills in real-life situations, both at work and in the community.

Their time in Seville wasn’t all work—students also explored the rich history and stunning architecture of the city. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, they had the chance to experience the vibrant culture and historical depth of one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.

The internship programme offered by 3SI proved to be a transformative experience for the students, equipping them with new perspectives, improved language abilities, and greater confidence in both professional and personal spheres.
