Bursary Support at UAH
The 16–19 Government Bursary Fund is available to support students at University Academy Holbeach who may face financial barriers to accessing post-16 education. The bursary is designed to help with essential costs such as transport, meals, books, equipment, uniform and educational visits, ensuring all students are able to fully engage with their studies.
To be eligible, students must be aged 16–18 on 31 August of the year they start their course, be enrolled on a full-time programme of study, meet UK residency requirements and submit a new bursary application each academic year with supporting evidence.
Funding is allocated based on individual circumstances and household income and is assessed confidentially by the Sixth Form Bursary Committee. Priority is given to vulnerable students, including those who are looked after or care leavers, or who personally receive benefits such as Universal Credit, Income Support, PIP or DLA. These students may be eligible for up to £1,200 per year. Students from households with an income below £25,000, or who are eligible for free school meals, may also receive support, while limited assistance is available for households with an income between £25,000 and £40,000, subject to available funding.
Support may be provided as direct payments or “in kind” assistance, such as transport passes, meals in school or essential course equipment. Continued bursary support is dependent on students maintaining at least 95% attendance and meeting Sixth Form behaviour and conduct expectations.
Bursary funding is dependent on students maintaining a minimum of 95% attendance across all timetabled sessions, including core lessons, study periods and enrichment activities.
Failure to meet attendance expectations may result in bursary support being reduced, withdrawn or reclaimed.
Full eligibility criteria, application guidance and evidence requirements are available in the 16–19 Bursary Policy, please see below.
