Careers Support

The UAH Sixth Form experience is defined by our commitment to ensuring every student secures a positive destination in Further/Higher Education, an apprenticeship, or employment. With 97% of our students achieving this goal, our holistic approach blends academic study with dedicated careers preparation, wellbeing support, and real-world application.

Informed Pathways: LMI and Vocational Excellence 💡

We strategically align our curriculum with Labour Market Information (LMI) for the South Lincolnshire region, ensuring qualifications directly lead to high-growth job sectors. Our students gain a career advantage through:

Dedicated Careers Guidance and Progression 🎓

We provide structured support for all post-18 routes, ensuring students make informed decisions:

  • Higher Education (UCAS): The Year 12 and 13 Tutor Programme provides explicit support for Personal Statement drafting, course search based on modules, and the completion of forms to help staff write detailed references. This is complemented by visits from universities to provide direct insight into degree-level study.
  • Apprenticeships & Employment: We are committed to promoting apprenticeships, leveraging our strong links with the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce. Tutor sessions in Year 13 are dedicated to finding live job or apprenticeship opportunities, preparing relevant documentation, and updating CVs and cover letters. Students also benefit from talks on apprenticeships to understand the earn-while-you-learn route.

Employability Skills: Our tutorial programme covers all essentials for the job market, including CV writing, job applications, and practical interview techniques. All students have access to one-to-one guidance with a professional careers advisor.

The Pastoral Framework and Enrichment 🛡

Our robust pastoral system, led by Form Tutors, integrates personal development and wellbeing with career preparation:

  • Tutor-Led Sessions: Pastoral sessions deliver a comprehensive programme covering essential life skills and wellbeing. Topics include British Values, Diversity, Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing (including exercise and body image), and dealing with negative behaviour.

MAD (Multi-Agency Days): These dedicated collapsed timetable days and enrichment activities allow us to focus on vital topics outside the core curriculum. They feature guest speakers to cover areas like Sexual Health, Drug awareness, and essential Careers and employability workshops.

Through this combination of LMI-driven vocational expertise, dedicated guidance for all progression routes, and a strong pastoral framework, the UAH Sixth Form ensures students leave not just with qualifications, but with the confidence and skills to thrive in their future careers.

UAH delivers high‑quality, impartial careers guidance for all Sixth Form students, ensuring every learner receives tailored support for their chosen next steps.  This is to ensure every student will leave UAH with clarity, confidence and a well‑planned progression route.
